Homecoming Weekend 2023

With over 400 Letterwinners returning home for Homecoming Weekend 2023, the A-Club tailgate was hosted at Tomey Field which included food, drinks, music, and a photo booth! In the end, we filled over 1,000 seats in Arizona Stadium and witnessed a great win from our Cats against UCLA! Can’t wait to see the numbers we bring back in 2024!

Sports Hall of Fame

Friday, November 3rd, we had the absolute pleasure of celebrating Arizona Athletics 2023 Sports Hall of Fame inductees at La Paloma Resort and Spa. The 2023 class consisted of 6 Arizona Letterwinners, 1 former longtime Head Coach, and 1 Arizona Athletics longtime administrator. Congratulations Beloved Promise, Stephen Sambu, Justine Schluntz, Kirsten Smith Cambron, David Rubio, John Perrin, Preston Guilmet, and Rob Gronkowski!

Ring of Honor inductee Bruce Hill

During Homecoming Weekend, we were able to recognize Bruce Hill, UA Football Letterwinner (‘73 -’75), into our Ring of Honor located in Arizona Stadium. Bruce was the first African American Quarterback at the University of Arizona; he was WAC Rookie of the Year in 1973 and All WAC First Team in 1975. On top of all of that, he led Arizona to a WAC Championship in 1973 (this year is their 50th Anniversary!!). In 1981, Bruce was inducted into the Arizona Sports Hall of Fame. When his career ended, Bruce was Arizona’s record holder in passing yards, touchdowns and total offense. Congratulations Bruce!

Homecoming Awards 2023

Clark Crist, recipient of our T. Bruce Huffman Award and UA baseball Letterwinner (‘79-’80), was shortstop for our National Championship team in 1980 and has since continued to make his mark on the Baseball world.

Michelle Johnson Skog, recipient of our Rocky LaRose Service Award and UA Track and Field Letterwinner (‘92-’96), competed 4 years for UA and 6 years for the United States professionally. She now has her master’s in counseling and actively works providing mental health services for the Tucson community. A mother of 2 and a certified group fitness trainer, Michelle continues to inspire those around her.

Humberto and Czarina Lopez, recipients of our Honorary Letterwinners, share values of hard work, creativity, and kindness that have not only propelled their personal success but have also inspired others around them. With their two daughters actively involved in the family foundation, the Lopez family’s legacy of generosity and community support continues to thrive, making a lasting impact on the lives of many.
Congratulations Michelle, Clark, Humberto and Czarina!

Honorary Captains Rob Gronkowski (UCLA) and Ka’Deem Carey (UTAH)

We loved having Arizona Football Letterwinners Rob Gronkowski and Ka’Deem Carey back as our Honorary Captains for our winning home games against UCLA and UTAH.

Wildcat Remembrance

The A-Club is deeply saddened to hear the news about the passing of former Men’s Tennis Head Coach Dave Snyder (‘59-’72). While coaching at the University of Arizona, his record was 161-48 (.770), a truly remarkable dual-match record. During his time coaching, he also produced 6 All-Americans. Our thoughts and love are with Coach Snyder’s friends, family, and Arizona Tennis Letterwinners that played for Coach Snyder.
